Former homeless prostitute, street thug, high school dropout, and teenage mother to college educated author, professional speaker, fitness expert, and award winning filmmaker. It wasn't luck or being in the right place at the right time that allowed Jillian Bullock to transform her life from a Victim to a Victor. It was blood, sweat, and a whole lot of tears and putting in the work necessary that has made her the successful businesswoman she is today.
Jillian is the CEO/President of Jillian Bullock Enterprises, LLC, an empowerment and entertainment company based in Pennsylvania. While Jillian attended college, she worked as a reporter for “The Wall Street Journal.” After graduation from La Salle University, Jillian got her start in filmmaking as an intern on Spike Lee’s movie “Malcolm X.” From there, she has worked on her own, and other people’s movies, as an actress, writer, producer, director, and fight choreographer. Jillian got that last title because she is a former competitive boxer and martial artist. She holds two black belts, one in Tae Kwon Do and the other in Wing Chun. She currently trains in MMA.
As an author Jillian’s memoir, “HERE I STAND,” was published in 2012. She has sold two screenplays in her career so far – “The Champion Inside” and “Scar Across My Heart.” Since 2007, Jillian has been a screenwriting judge for the Set in Philadelphia Screenwriting Contest, which is sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
Jillian’s latest project is a feature film entitled “A Sense of Purpose: Fighting For Our Lives,” which focuses on veterans, military sexual assault and PTSD. Inspired by true stories. To learn more about this movie, click here.
Jillian is one of the leading intellectual voices in the country. She is a frequent speaker on a variety of issues including: health, fitness, wellness, self-defense, rape and sexual assault, domestic violence, personal and professional development. Several articles have been written about Jillian and she is an expert source for various magazines, on-line publications relating to the topics listed above. Jillian has spoken at non-profit organizations, corporations, government agencies, women’s organizations, businesses, and colleges. She is a member of Toastmasters International and a Women’s Media Center SheSource Expert.
Jillian got her start in film when she attended La Salle University and studied Communications. A part of the curriculum focused heavily on film production. While she attended college, Jillian worked as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal . After graduation in 1991, Jillian got an internship on the set of Spike Lee’s movie Malcolm X . Leaving the Wall Street Journal she started her own production company Jillian Bullock Enterprises, LLC (formerly Jaguar Productions, Inc.). Jillian has worked on her own movies, Spirit and a documentary, A Filmmaker’s Personal Journey, which she won the Mickey Michaux award and other filmmakers’ movies as a screenwriter, director, producer, actress, or fight choreographer.
She has sold two scripts in her career so far; The Champion Inside , a drama that involved boxing and cancer and Scar Across My Heart , a drama that included mixed martial arts and rehabilitation after prison. Due to her expertise as a screenwriter and a filmmaker, since 2006 Jillian has been a screenwriting judge for the Set in Philadelphia Screenwriting contest, which is sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
Jillian is currently in pre-production on her newest film titled A Sense of Purpose: Fighting For Our Lives. The story focuses on four military veterans, who uses an unconventional form of therapy – mixed martial arts – to help them heal, recover and assimilate back into society. Jillian will wear the hats of co-director, screenwriter, producer, and actress.
Jillian is also a women's health and wellness expert. She focuses on empowering females to be victors, not victims by making productive, healthy and safe decisions and actions in their personal and professional lives. She works tirelessly to raise awareness about sexual assault, rape, and domestic violence.
Jillian has over 30 years in the fitness industry. She started taking martial arts when she was 12 years old. She went on to obtain two black belts; one in Tae Kwon Do and the other in Wing Chun. A former competitive martial artist, Jillian now trains in Muay Thai and Boxing. She holds certifications as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, kettlebell trainer, and mixed martial arts conditioning coach. Jillian has trained people from all walks of life, including actors, athletes, government employees, and others.
Jillian is the author of HERE I STAND , a memoir, which was published in 2012. Her first fitness book, Fitness Between the Sheets , will be published June 2016. Jillian is currently writing Still Standing Strong: How to Achieve Happiness, Success and Greatness Despite the Challenges, Hardships or Obstacles Against You.
As someone who has overcome tremendous obstacles, Jillian became a rape, sexual assault and domestic violence educator because she cares deeply about the welfare of others, especially girls and women. She works tirelessly to raise awareness not just about sexual assault and domestic violence, but other tough subjects including homelessness, teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, and military veterans, who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
