Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Jillian had an unusual upbringing. She was raised by her African-American mother and white stepfather, who was a member of the Italian Mafia. While other little girls were playing jacks, jumping rope or dressing their dolls Jillian was learning the ways of the Mob. In fact, she saw her first Mob hit when she was nine years old. This type of life sparked Jillian’s imagination as she created artwork and stories about her Mob “family.”
After graduation from La Salle University in 1991, Jillian got an internship on the set of Spike Lee’s movie “Malcolm X.” Leaving the Wall Street Journal she started her own production company Jillian Bullock Enterprises, LLC (formerly Jaguar Productions, Inc.). Jillian has worked on her own movies, “Spirit” and a documentary, “A Filmmaker’s Personal Journey,” which she won the Mickey Michaux Award and other filmmakers’ movies as a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, or fight choreographer.
She has sold two scripts in her career so far; “The Champion Inside,” a drama that involved boxing and cancer and “Scar Across My Heart,” a drama that included mixed martial arts and rehabilitation after prison. Due to her expertise as a screenwriter and a filmmaker, since 2007 Jillian has been a screenwriting judge for the Set in Philadelphia Screenwriting contest, which is sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Film Office. She has also been a guest expert on film panels.
As an author, Jillian’s memoir, HERE I STAND, was published in 2012. It tells of her upbringing living with a Mobster, along with many horrific experiences she endured, including rape, drug addiction, homeless, prostitution, and teenage pregnancy.
Jillian’s first novel, Shadows of Love, Betrayal and Murder, will be published in September 2018. It’s a suspense, crime thriller.
